Description
This is exceptionally tasty, very impressive and introduces a lot of people to something they don't usually eat.... the zucchini flower. Which comes in male and female, by the way.
Ingredients
| 12 | zucchini flowers | |
| 1⁄2 | c | breadcrumbs |
| 1⁄4 | c | parmesan |
| 1 | clv | garlic, minced |
| 1 | egg, beaten | |
| 2 | T | butter (enough to sauté) |
Notes
These are great as appetizers or a side dish. They are subtle and rich so I usually plan for about 2 flowers per person. You can find them, seasonally, at your farmer's market.
Instructions
Combine breadcrumbs, garlic, and parmesan in a bowl. Beat an egg and blend together with other ingredients. It should be of a doughy consistency. If not, add another egg. Stuff the flowers. (you may have to pry them open, delicately...) Sauté in a healthy amount of butter on medium heat. When they are a beautiful golden brown, they're done.
